A two days’ long workshop on “Mastering Physics Through Experiments”  organized by Hazaribag Sahodaya School Complex in collaboration with Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribag (at Vivekanand Auditorium, VBU) was inaugurated by Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, VBU Hazaribag. The students of DAV, Angels High School, Naman Vidya, St. Xavier’s, Jack & Jill, SSVM, Surekha Bhai PS etc. participated in it.

Shri Ashok Kumar , President Hazaribag Sahodaya School Complex welcomed the Chief Guest , the resource person and other dignitaries, present there. He said, “It is really a historically moment for Hazaribag as this is the first time when the students of different schools are there together attending a workshop”.

The Chief Guest Dr. Gurdeep Singh said, in his address, “Physics has a lot of its uses in our day to day life. Science is the basis of all kind of knowledge acquired. It is indeed a glorious moment for Hazaribag students that they are going to interact with such a learned person like Prof. (Dr.) H.C. Verma, Dept. of Physics, IIT Kanpur.”

Shri Manish Jaiswal , MLA Hazaribag congratulated the Sahodaya School Complex for taking such an initiative and said,“There is crisis of quality of Physics teachers.”Hence he wished that the students, listening to Prof. Verma would become eminent scholars of Physics in their life.

The resource person, Prof. Verma said, in his interaction with the students and teachers, “ Teachers must be committed and competent.” Further, he said, “ Very few parents are there who wish their children to be very good teachers. Most of them wish to see their children as doctors, engineers, IAS, IPS etc. The society has wrong SI unit of measuring the achievement of someone.” Talking on Physics, he said, “ When a child finds his toy there itself where he has kept earlier, means he is applying the first law of motion. If he doesn’t find his toy there, he starts shouting who has taken his toy from there. Here it means he is again applying the first law of motion.” By citing such example he hinted that even a small child is also aware of Newton’s Law. Physics is part and parcel of our life. Therefore, one should never remain confined to only physics formulae rather one should also apply one’s presence of mind according to situational approach. He suggested the students  to connect themselves  with physics in their day to day life, as much attached they will be so much enjoyable it will become to them and then it will create passion and emotion which would inspire him to do something unique. He cited the examples of Vivekanand, C.V. Raman and Michael Faraday. During the interaction session Ayushi, Shubham, Riya Bhardwaj, Anvita Priyam,Suvam Swaraj (DAV), Aditaya Pratik, Alkama (Jack & Jil), Manjit Sahay, Swati Verma (St. Xavier), Pragya, Manisha (Vivekanand) and many other students were there who asked questions and Prf. Verma satisfied them.

The dignitaries included Shri Mahavir Lal Vishwakarma, Dr. Hira Lal Saha, Prof. P. Mahto,Pro.Vikash Kumar,Pro.Abhay Kumar,Father P.James,ShreeU.PSingh .Besides,the students and teachers of DAV, St.Xavier ,Jack&Jill,Naman Vidya,Surekha Bhai Public School,Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Vivekanand,Navodaya etc. made their presence in the workshop. Prof. Abhay Kumar VBU, Shri Tapan Kumar Panda & Shri K. K. Singh (DAV Teacher) played a leading role in coordinating the programme.

The two days’ long workshop on “Mastering Physics Through Experiments”  organized by Hazaribag Sahodaya School Complex in collaboration with Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribag (at Vivekanand Auditorium, VBU) concluded with memento presentation to the resource person Dr. H. C. Verma, Prof of Physics IIT Kanpur. On the second day of the workshop the teachers of DAV Hazaribag & Chatra, Angels High School, Naman Vidya, St. Xavier’s, Jack & Jill, SSVM, Surekha Bhai PS etc. participated in it.

In his interaction with the teachers Shri Verma said that the teachers have maximum interaction with the students. They should encourage the children to convince the complex formulae through the day to day happenings of life. This kind of efforts would inspire them to be scientists. They will learn innovative ideas. India has always been a land of science right from the very beginning. They must connect Physics with day to day life and use the equipments of daily life to simplify the concept of science. Tennis ball, torch, glasses of spectacles, paper pin, bottle etc. can be very helpful for the teachers to make the children understand different scientific concepts. He also suggested them to guide the children through natural phenomenon as nature itself is a great teacher imparting enough knowledge. As much simple the presentation of the topic is so much interesting it will become for the children.

The Chief Guest Dr. Gurdeep Singh, V.C. VBU Hazaribag said in his address to the teachers that they must teach the students through knowledge oriented teaching not only through the marks oriented teaching. It would make the fundamental concepts of the topic very clear.

The distinguished Guest Shri Manish Jaiswal, MLA, Hazaribag thanked Mr. Verma a lot for making the students as well the teachers enlightened through his lecture during the two day long workshop. He hoped the students would certainly get rid of coaching institutions by getting the very clear concepts in the school itself.

It was also recommended by Shri Ashok Kumar ,President Sahodaya School Complex that this kind of fruitful workshop should be continued in the coming years too. He went on saying that this kind of efforts would indeed enable the teachers to help the students to crack engineering competitions easily.

During the valedictory function a report on the workshop was presented. The vote of thanks was proposed by Father P. J. James, Principal St. Xavier’s School Hazaribag. On this occasion the dignitaries present included Shri Munna Kumar Singh , Commandant CRPF Hazaribag, Shri Mahabir Lal Vishwakarma and others.
