The two day long DAV National Sports Cluster Level Basketball, Handball and Cricket Tournament-2017 was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri R.K. Singh, Executive Director, North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project, NTPC, Tandwa at DAV Public School, Hazaribag by lighting the inaugural lamp, hoisting the DAV National Sports Flag, releasing the balloons followed by the declaration of the  meet open. In his welcome address Principal Shri Ashok Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest and enumerated the contributions of Shri R.K. Singh to DAV Hazaribag. Further, he expressed deep gratitude to him for giving the proposal to run a DAV Public School in Tandwa under the aegis of NTPC.  Simultaneously, he quoted the success story of several persons most of whom were the sports person. The purpose was to boost the morale of the players.

The Chief Guest expressed his overwhelming sense of jubilation at the performance of DAV schools especially DAV Hazaribag.   He went on to say that DAV is a perfect educational destination because of students are shaped physically, mentally, ethically and spiritually. The students of DAV are groomed in such a way that they proved to be a good human being. He appreciated the achievements of the school in terms of games and sports, cultural activities as well as scholastic and co-scholastic activities. In his address, he lavishly encouraged the participants and boosted their morale. He further, asked the players to rise above the feeling of negativity and to play with the sense of true sportsmanship. Losing and winning  are the part of life. Playing honestly and in proper discipline is more important than anything else. He was very happy to learn that the girls Handball team of DAV Hazaribag had  clinched the championship trophy last year in National Level DAV National Sports. Among the other distinguished guests present on the occasion were Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Shri Arvind Pratap Singh etc. The teams of DAV Hazaribag, DAV Barkakana, DAV Bharechnagar, DAV Ara Kuju, DAV West Bokaro Ghato, DAV Patratu, DAV Koderma, DAV Tapin North and DAV Rajrappa are participating. Some colourful cultural programmes were presented to alleviate the stress of the players and entertain the audience.  The Camp Fire will be organized in the evening to offer the opportunities to the team escorts and participants to exhibit their talent in cultural activities also.  

The Valedictory Function of DAV National Sports Cluster Level Basketball, Handball and Cricket Tournament-2017 was held at 1:30 p.m. at DAV Public School, Hazaribag. The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mrs. Vandana Dadel, IAS, Commissioner, North Chhotanagpur Division and the Distinguished Guest Hon’ble Prof (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar, Dean of Student Welfare, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag alongwith a chain of eminent guests witnessed the final match of the Basketball Boys conducted between DAV Hazaribag and DAV Rajrappa. The Principal welcomed the guests and enumerated some of the recent achievements that school has got in games and sports. He encouraged the loosing and winning teams with a beautiful story. The Chief Guest touched upon the spirit of sportsmanship and underlined the importance of games and sports in the growth of the school and development of personality of the students. The distinguished guest was overwhelmed to learn the schools achievements and encouraged the players. They both presented the medals and trophies to the Runner up and Winners teams. The toppers of the toppers of the first terminal examination of class XII stream wise were also felicitated by the Chief Guest. Last of all the sports flag was lower down and the valedictory function came to an end. The results of the events are attached herewith.
