Van-Mahotsva 15-July-2014
The fact that the inspired authors of the Vedic hymns celebrated seers of the upanishand, the bedrock of DAV movement, were all forest dwellers accounted for the great enthusiasm and the sense of commitment with which DAV Hazaribag celebrates Van Mahotsava .So it was with the 65th Van Mahotsava – The Forest Festival so to say-which was celebreated in collaboration with the Department of Forest , Hazaribag(East). Apart from the inspiration for the event being rooted to Vedic tradition , it also came from the DAV perception of plantation and saving of trees being the chief means of averting the ecological disaster looming ahead.
DAVPS Hazaribag has created quite an awesome record of distributing an average of five thousand saplings a year over the past several years as part of the Van Mahotsava.
The Chief Guest Pro. (Dr.) Gurdeep Singh, V.C., V.B.U. Hazaribag, presented many examples of related to importance of forest and said that Swedon is the country where the major part of the revenue comes from the forest itself. He appealed that maintainance of natural habitat is a must for ecological point of view. Flora founa and human beings are inter dependent and it is difficult to imagine the existence of any one of these. It is required by one and all to maintain Indian Vedic culture which promotes the preservation of forest.

Shri Ranjan Jain, Vice Chairman, LMC DAVPS Hazaribag thanked the department of forest for choosing the school as a venue for the celeberation of Van Mahotsava. He said that this programme would definitely enculcate the good values in students regarding environment.

It was high time to proceed in right earnest with the espousal of the noble cause of plantation as this holds the key to the protection of environment which in turn meant the betterment of the nation. He also urged the people to preserve the existing forests and to take proper care of the saplings being planted.
