The two day long DAV National Sports (Cluster level) Basketball and Handball Tournaments -2015 was inaugurated by Shri Akhilesh Kumar Jha, IPS, SP, Hazaribag by unfurling the sports flag. On this occasion Shri Munna Kumar Singh, Commandant, CRPF as the Guest of Honour, Prof. Vikash Kumar, Dinesh Khandelwal, Shri M. K. Mishra, Principal, DAV Bharech Nagar, Shri O. P. Yadav, Principal, DAV Koderma and many other dignitaries were present. They enjoyed the inaugural basketball match between DAV Hazaribag and DAV Ghatotand and the inaugural handball match between DAV Rajrappa and DAV Bharechnagar of the boys team.

Shri Shri Akhilesh Kumar Jha, the Chief Guest of the occasion, while getting introduced with the participants, motivated them by saying that they must play with team spirit and enthusiasm. He also said winning or losing the game doesn’t matter. What matters the most is the willing and active participation in the event.

Shri Munna Kumar Singh said that sports keep the body and mind healthy. It is must for us to be physically fit to get success in any field. Sports also inculcate good qualities like honesty, team spirit, discipline, etc. They must play with full vigour and enthusiasm in the ground.

The Principal Shri Ashok Kumar welcomed the Guests and the participants and said that altogether 16 teams of Boys and Girls are going to participate in this two day long tournaments. The participants have come from DAV Barkana, DAV Ara-Kuju, DAV Ghatotand, DAV Rajrappa and DAV Hazaribag. The winners and runners team at cluster level will participate at Zonal Level Sports Tournaments.

Shri Jaswir Singh and Raghwendra Rao played the role of the referee for the inaugural matches of Basketball and Handball respectively.     

DAY-2

The two day long DAV National Sports, Cluster Level Handball and Basketball Tournaments- 2015 concluded with felicitation of the runner up and the winner teams by the Chief Guest Mrs. Urmila Singh, Regional Director DAV Public Schools, Hazaribag Zone and lowering down the sports flag. Speaking on the occasion she said that there is very healthy environment of academics as well as sports in Hazaribag. She congratulated  the teams and wished that the winners and the runner up teams at cluster level would also perform better at zonal as well as national level. She advised the participants to go for rigorous practice for the coming tournaments.

The Guest of Honour Shri Deepak Kumar Verma, IG (Retd.) also congratulated the participants and said that apart from scholastic activities, games and sports are also very necessary for all round development of the children. He also wished that children will perform better in the zonal tournaments.

On this occasion the children also presented cultural items.
