The D A V National sports (Zonal Level) Basketball Tournament of Hazaribag Ranchi,Dhanbad and Santhal Paragana Zone was inaugurated at Sr. Wing by the Chief Guest Shri Bhimsen Tuti,IPS,SP, Hazaribag and   the Distinguished Guest Shri Deepak Verma IG(Retd.) by lighting the inaugural lamp and by releasing the balloons.

In his address to the participants, he said that he felt privileged to be a part of the tournament. He always prefers to interact with children as they are the future of the nation. He suggested them for continuous practice of the games in their daily life which would always keep them physically fit and mentally strong. It is also a kind of survival skill. Being a sportsperson means to be confident of the body. Even after playing for half an hour, one can feel energetic, fresh and active throughout the day.

The Principal Shri Ashok Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest, the Distinguished Guest Shri Deepak Verma IG(Retd.), dignataries,officials, participants and the persons from the media and said that it is really a great moment that the tournament was inaugurated by Shri Bhimsen Tuti who himself is a highly learned person, an IITian and the President of the Basketball Association,Hazaribag. Further,he said that altogether sixteen teams (Boys &Girls) from DAV Gandhinagar, Bariatu, WBC Ghato, Rajrappa, NIT Jamshedpur, Bistupur,CCL Giridih, Bokaro sec.6 and DAV Hazaribag are going to play in this two day long tournament.

Besides parents, sports lovers, students and the dignitaries present included Shri Ranjan Jain, Vice-Chairman LMC DAV, Hazaribag, Pro.Vikash Kumar,VBU, Shri A.K.Prasad, Principal, JNV Bonga, Tapas Chakarvarty, Md.Khalid and others.Under the cultural fiesta, the children of Eucalypta branch presented a very  mesmerizing Maratha dance(lazium) to entertain the people.

The D A V National sports (Zonal Level) Basketball Tournament of Hazaribag Ranchi, Dhanbad and Santhal Paragana Zone was concluded with the felicitation of winning and running teams  at Sr. Wing by the Chief Guest Prof.(Dr.) Gurdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, VBU Hazaribag and   the Distinguished Guest Dr.(Mrs.) Urmila Singh, ARD DAV Public School Hazaribag Zone and by lowering down the sports flag.

In his address to the participants, the Chief Guest Prof.(Dr.) Gurdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, VBU Hazaribag said that he felt privileged to be a part of the tournament. He said that he witnessed the final match and found that players were very much disciplined while playing. It was really a very exciting match. Further, he said that winning & losing the game doesn’t matter, what matters the most is the active and willing participation of the players.

Dr.(Mrs.) Urmila Singh, ARD DAV Public School Hazaribag Zone congratulated the winners and runners up teams. She also congratulated DAV Hazaribag family for wonderful arrangement for this tournament and the exuberant performance of Hazaribag students in the final match. She said that the school deserves all praise; be it the field of scholastic or co scholastic. She appealed all staff members to come forward to join their hands whole heartedly with the Principal for the  development of the school. She also expected that these teams would clinch the championship trophy at National Level.
