Handball Team Creates History
The girl students of Handball Team of DAV Public School, Hazaribag created a history by clinching the Championship Trophy in DAV National Sports Tournament held at DAV University, Jalandhar. In this final tournament, the Hazaribag team defeated the team of DAV Punjab. The former team scored 10 points whereas the latter team scored 7 points. Varsha Rani of DAV Hazaribag was adjudged the Best Player. Aruna Divyadarshini- the sports teacher of the school, who accompanied the team, told that Varsha Rani performed very well and she was declared the Best Player at Cluster, Zonal as well as National Level. The another Sports teacher, Mr. Mritunjoy Kumar while talking about the performance of the team, said that the girls of Hazaribag defeated the team of UP(3-8) and Delhi(5-6) and Utrakhand (4-10) in the Semi Final. In the Final match, the team defeated the very strong team of Punjab (7-10).

The Principal Shri Ashok Kumar congratulated the team and said that Handball and Basketball teams both performed very well in DAV National Sports Tournaments. They have added another feather to the cap of DAV Hazaribag. Shri Ravinder Kumar-the Chairman of LMC DAV H.Bag, Shri J.P.Soor,Director DAVCMC,New Delhi, Dr.Gurdeep Singh, VC VBU H.Bag, Dr.Urmila Singh, Director, Hazaribag Zone, Shri T.P.Pati, Manager, DAV Hazaribag and Shri Ranjan Kumar Jain, Vice –Chairman LMCDAV H.Bag congratulated the team saying that it is really a great achievement of the school during the Silver Jubilee Celebration year. The Handball players – Varsha, Nidhi, Dibanjali, Aanchal, Aparna, Shalini, Shristi, Shreya, Akansha, Jahnvi, Nikita, Ayushi and Muskan-the runner up in High Jump will be felicitated in the Silver Jubilee Celebration to be held in the month of December. Throughout the tournament, the students of the school peformed very well in different events. The Basketball team of the school has already left Hzaribag for Delhi to participate in DAV National Sports Tournament. It is noted here that DAV National Sports has already been affiliated with School Games Federation of India. Therefore, the Hand ball team would directly get entry in the National Level Tournament organized by the federation in January, 2017.
